The Ngemi Cia UK Homecoming Festival 2025 lived up to its billing as the largest Mount Kenya cultural event in the UK, transforming Coventry into a vibrant hub of colour, food, music, and heritage.

Held at The Black Pad, the festival drew Kenyans from across the UK who came together for a spirited celebration of identity, tradition, and community.
Sponsored by Diaspora Insurance, the day’s highlights included:
Cultural Showcase: Traditional dance, storytelling, and art exhibitions paid homage to the rich heritage of the Mount Kenya region. From rhythmic dances to captivating folktales, the performances offered both entertainment and cultural education for the diaspora community.

Kikuyu Fashion & Heritage: One of the most striking features of the event was the display of Kikuyu traditional fashion. Women dazzled in lesos and kanga fabrics, layered with brightly coloured beadwork and necklaces symbolising beauty, resilience, and status. Men donned shukas and traditional headgear, exuding ancestral pride. The fashion showcase not only highlighted the artistry and elegance of Kikuyu attire but also evoked memories of weddings, initiation ceremonies, and communal gatherings back home in Kenya.
Live Music and Entertainment: Kenyan entertainers including DJ Dibul, DJ Cymoah, DJ Juel, and MC Jessy electrified the crowd with a dynamic mix of contemporary hits and nostalgic classics, keeping the audience on their feet throughout the day.
Cuisine and Market Stalls: The aroma of Kenyan delicacies filled the air, with nyama choma, ugali, and traditional stews on offer. Market stalls displayed crafts, beadwork, and handmade items, allowing festival-goers to support local vendors while reconnecting with home through taste and touch.
Community Engagement: Beyond entertainment, the event became a hub for networking and reconnection. Families, friends, and professionals shared stories, rekindled old ties, and forged new connections — strengthening the sense of belonging within the diaspora.
Speaking after the event, Shiru Stuart, Diaspora Insurance brand ambassador, said:
“This has been a truly great event — the biggest I have seen here in the UK. The atmosphere was incredible, and the rich cultural vibes made the day unforgettable.”

Powered by Blue Vision Realtors Limited, the festival received overwhelming support from the Kenyan community in the UK, establishing itself not only as an annual cultural event but also as a bridge between home and the diaspora.
