After completing his post graduate studies he could not secure a job in the banking sector and found himself working as a security guard to make ends meet. Madzingo narrated his journey in a keynote speech at the recently held Zimbabwe Achievers Awards headline sponsored by Diaspora Insurance.  “I used my security guard time to study”, he said, holding  a  blue jacket emblazoned ‘The Watch Security’, his uniform over a decade ago. Eventually he got professional qualifications in mortgages and insurance and started a business which helped thousands of diasporans buy their first homes while others were able to establish property portfolios of their own.
