Takoradi, Ghana – Ahanta Development Network was launched on Saturday, 18th March 2023, in the conference hall of Akroma Plaza Hotel. The event was sponsored by Diaspora Insurance . Ahanta Development Network is a registered charity organisation in Ghana and UK set up by Nana Kwesi Quayson I to advance his charity works in Ghana and abroad. The organisation is to ensure quality education for brilliant but needy children in Ahanta areas, quality health care delivery for less privileged people living in Ahanta areas, and preservation of Ahanta customs and traditions.

AHANTA DEVELOPMENT NETWORK GHANA-UK LAUNCHED IN TAKORADI, GHANA
The ceremony, which was both dinner and fundraising, was part of a series of activities lined up by Nana Kwesi Quayson I to mark his coronation as Atwimanlehine for the Ahanta traditional area and the diaspora. It started at exactly 8.00 pm with the Ghana National Fire Service band in attendance to give a rendition of good Ghanaian music to the attendees with the support of Kwesimintsim Abisa Troupe, which displayed rich Ahanta culture to the admiration of all.
COP/Mrs chaired the launch. Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Dankwah, the Executive Director of the Economic and Organize Crime Office (EOCO) and co-chaired by Mr John F. Harris, director and senior partner for T -Cribbs & Sons Ltd -UK, brought together people from all walks of life, in addition to friends and family of Nana Kwesi Quayson I who gathered at Akroma Plaza Hotel in Takoradi to partake in the launch.
In her opening remarks, COP/Mrs. Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah called on well-meaning people and friends and family of Nana Kwesi Quayson to contribute their widow’s mite to support such a worthy and help the organisation to grow to fulfil its mission and objectives. She likened her story and the challenges she went through as a child to that of Nana Kwesi Quayson I, and as part of her contributions, she gave money in donations to support the foundation. She pledged to contribute an undisclosed amount to the foundation for the next 12 months.
In his remarks, the co-chair for the launch Mr John F. Harris, also highlighted the need for such a charity foundation and called on all to support Nana Kwesi Quayson I to advance his charity works in Ghana and abroad. He narrated how a Ghanaian friend of his lost her life through kidney disease and is confident that Ahanta Development Network will go all out to give health care support to less privileged people when the need arises. On his part, he donated some money to support the foundation.

In his remarks, Nana Kwesi Quayson thanked all those who travelled from far and near, particularly those who came from abroad, to attend his coronation and the fundraising for his charity organisation. He stressed the need for such an organisation that can provide timely intervention for brilliant but needy children living in Ahanta areas, assist in delivering quality health care delivery for the less privileged, and the need to preserve the culture and customs traditions of the Ahanta people.
Mr Daniel Kwofie, also known as Ahanta Apemenyimheneba Kwofie III, was named the Executive Director of Ahanta Development Network. In his speech, he thanked Nana Kwesi Quayson I for allowing him to lead the organisation. He pledged his commitment, sacrifices, and dedication to ensure the organisation met its objectives and called on all to support it in achieving its mission and goals.
Rev/Dr led the fundraising. Lawrence Tetteh, a renowned Ghanaian International Evangelist, appealed for funds to support the organisation. At the end of the fundraising, Ghc 30, 000.00 was realised as seed money to start the organisation. Rev/Dr. Lawrence Tetteh charged the organisation to use its funds and resources judiciously to ensure it achieves its missions and objectives.

There were fraternal messages from the representatives from the House of Commons -UK, Ghana Union – UK & Ireland, Ahanta Association – UK & Ireland, Ahanta Traditional Council, the Royal Ebiradze family, and other well-wishers.
On the part of the House of Commons, Mr Alan Bonds congratulated Nana Kwesi Quayson I for being coronated as “Atwimanlihene” for Ahanta Traditional. Area and the Diaspora. He also pledged to support Ahanta Development Network. On the part of Ghana Union -UK and Ireland, Mr David Yianomah congratulated Nana Kwesi Quayson for his installation. He urged him to continue to work hard as he has always done. Mrs Abena Ateen, who represented Ahanta Association UK and Ireland, congratulated Nana Kwesi Quayson I and urged him to preserve the culture, customs, and traditions of the Ahanta people.
In her closing remark, COP/Mrs. Maame Yaa Tiwaa Addo-Danquah was optimistic that the organisation would achieve its mission and objectives. She pledged her full support to Ahanta Development Networks’ growth development and promised to avail herself anytime the organisation calls on her.
The Diaspora Insurance Manager for the Ghana corridor Mr Augustine Yalley said the event was a successful one and called on the Ghanaian community in the diaspora to reach out to him if they were looking for sponsorship for such great community initiatives.
