Zimbabwean middle-distance runner, Royal Mabika, will be participating in this year’s Manchester Marathon with the support of global risk solutions firm, Diaspora Insurance.
Mabika, who is based in the United Arab Emirates, is running to raise school fees for close to one hundred children from his Zaka home district in Masvingo province.
“I’m happy to be lining up for the Manchester Marathon on a charity mission very close to my heart,” said Mabika.
“I’m running to sponsor education for rural kids at different schools in Zaka Jerera District (click here to donate).”
He added; “I have always wanted to use my sporting influence for the benefit of the less privileged.
“I would want to appreciate different partners and stakeholders for supporting my initiative.
“In particular I’m very grateful to Diaspora Insurance for sponsoring the whole initiative and making a long-lasting impact in the community.”

Among other achievements, Mabika has won the 10km Mai Dubai City Half Marathon in Abu Dhabi.
The adidas Manchester Marathon, the UK’s second largest marathon and one of Europe’s largest is an iconic event drawing participants from all over the world to the vibrant streets of Greater Manchester.
Some 140,000 supporters are expected to cheer the runners this year.
“We pride ourselves in welcoming all to take on our 26.2-mile challenge, from some superb and elite runners, to those who thought completing a marathon would never be possible,” said the organisers.
“Many regular runners find this the ideal event to get a personal best time, whilst everybody finds the incredible Mancunian support throughout the course unforgettable.”
A record 36,000 people signed up to participate in this year’s marathon, up from the 32,000 who registered in 2024.
