It was a bright autumn afternoon in Birmingham when the familiar voice of “Machete King” echoed through the corridors of Diaspora Insurance House headquarters.
Joseph Kanyi Kigio, better known by his stage name Jose Gatutura, is currently in the United Kingdom for a thrilling three-show Mugithi tour, entertaining fans with his timeless hits like Tuirio Twega, Thii Ukiumaga, Haha Nigute, Mwendwa Wakwa Mariru, and Utukũ Umwe.
During his visit, Gatutura expressed deep admiration for Diaspora Insurance, commending the organization for its unwavering dedication to empowering Africans abroad through innovative, dignified, and culturally grounded insurance solutions.
In between performances, the beloved Mugithi maestro took time to visit the Diaspora Insurance headquarters in Birmingham, accompanied by Diaspora Insurance Ambassador Shiru Stuart. The visit beautifully merged culture, music, and empowerment — celebrating the shared spirit of Africans living and succeeding abroad.

The celebrated artist was warmly welcomed by Diaspora Insurance CEO, Mr. Jeff Madzingo, along with an excited team of staff.
During the guided tour, Gatutura and Shiru Stuart learned more about Diaspora Insurance’s mission to empower Africans abroad through innovative insurance solutions particularly the Diaspora Funeral Cash Plan, designed to provide dignity and financial peace of mind during difficult times.
Gatutura praised Diaspora Insurance for its dedication to working with Africans away from home, noting how their approach combines professionalism with empathy and cultural understanding.

Speaking after the tour, the Machete King said:
