A FUNDING appeal has been launched (click here to donate) by the family of Pamela Choto who succumbed to cancer earlier this month, barely a year after relocating to Ireland from Zimbabwe.
Pamela, who was described “a loving and hardworking wife, mother, friend, daughter and sister” was known for her “warmth, kindness, and the positive influence she had on everyone she encountered”.
“She came to Ireland last year in October with her son and had only just started working when she was unfortunately diagnosed with cancer,” wrote Ted Sauramba who is organising the fundraiser.
“It is with a heavy heart that we lost this beautiful soul on Friday 9 August and are asking for help from the bottom of our hearts to take her home.”
The appeal seeks to raise £10,000 to help meet body repatriation costs to Zimbabwe “where her family wishes to lay her to rest”.
“It hasn’t been an easy journey as most finances we had went to supporting her during the time of her illness,” Sauramba said.
“As we mourn her passing, we are also faced with the challenging task of repatriating Pamela’s body to her homeland, Zimbabwe, where her family wishes to lay her to rest.
“This process is not only emotionally taxing but also comes with significant financial burdens.
“The costs associated with repatriation, including transportation, funeral arrangements, and other related expenses, are considerable.”
The appeal added;
We are setting up this GoFundMe campaign to ask for your support in helping us bring Pamela home.
Your donations will go directly towards covering these expenses, ensuring that Pamela’s family can honour her memory in the way she deserves. Every contribution, no matter the size, will make a difference and will be deeply appreciated by her family and all those who love her.
Pamela touched many lives, and this is our opportunity to give back and support her family in their time of need. If you are unable to donate, we kindly ask that you share this campaign with others who might be able to assist.
Thank you for your compassion and support during this difficult time. Together, we can help bring Pamela home and provide her family with the comfort and closure they need.
