Miss Pride of Africa prides itself as a pageant which seeks to promote African beauty, heritage and culture in the UK and this was evident at the 2023 edition in London where the contents proudly extolled what was unique about their countries of origin.
Diaspora Insurance, which also serves the African diaspora community not just in the UK but across the globe, was one of the sponsors of the event which was held on the second of December.
Eritrea’s Aida Mebrahtu Russom was crowned the winner with crowd favourite Shadia Naluzze of Uganda was the first princess while Zimbabwean Dorothy Mpofu was named second princess.
“The Pageant enables young African ladies in the United Kingdom to have a chance to shine a spotlight on Africa as a whole,” says the organisers.
“When Miss Pride Of Africa UK is crowned, she becomes an ambassador on behalf of all African countries and various organizations.
“The crowned Queen will travel to Africa to take part in human capital development projects, experience the culture and heritage of Africa and she will also be involved in making donations and contributions to various charitable institutes as well as 100% involvement within the United Kingdom as an African Ambassador.”
