DIASPORA Insurance was one of the key partners for the seventh edition of the Ghana Property and Lifestyle Expo which was held last weekend at London’s upmarket Pestana Chelsea Bridge Hotel.
The expo has, over the years, become a highly anticipated event, attracting real estate professionals, investors, developers, and individuals interested in exploring the property market and lifestyle opportunities in Ghana.
The event is organised by London-based boutique estate agent OnPoint Property run by sisters Anna and Victoria Agyekum and was fairly successful despite disruptions caused by political protests in the capital which attracted more than 300,000 protestors..
“We have noticed an influx of clients from Caribbean and African Americans who want to reconnect with their ancestral roots (and) I think there are a number of reasons for this,” said Anna ahead of the weekend event.
“Black families are considering moving back to Africa to seek the untapped opportunities that the continent has to offer. They also want to live a better lifestyle and to raise their families in an environment where they are not judged on their race.”
Birmingham-based insurance and risk solutions provider Diaspora Insurance was one of the sponsors for this year’s event with its West Africa Business Development Manager, Augustine Yalley, representing the company.

The Diaspora Insurance team made a presentation on the company’s bespoke and innovative funeral cash plan which is designed for diasporans and aimed at ensuring families do not go into debt or endure the indignity of GoFundMe appeals in times of bereavement.
“With this plan, you can enjoy guaranteed acceptance without the need for medical examinations, regardless of your age, as long as you are under 75 years old,” Yalley explained.
“The Diaspora Funeral Cash Plan offers comprehensive coverage for both you and your family members living abroad, as well as your loved ones back home in Ghana.
“In the unfortunate event of a bereavement, immediate pay-outs are made upon proof of death, providing you with the financial support you need during difficult times.”
He added; “What sets Diaspora Insurance apart is its flexibility.
“Unlike other plans, body repatriation is not mandatory, giving you the freedom to choose what is best for you and your family. Additionally, you will enjoy guaranteed free coverage in the future, meaning you won’t have to pay premiums until the time of your passing.

“Rest assured, Diaspora Insurance is authorized and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA), ensuring that you receive the highest level of professionalism and reliability.”
Meanwhile, the expo was not just about property showcases; it also provided valuable networking opportunities; featuring engagements with industry professionals, potential partners, and like-minded individuals through interactive seminars, panel discussions, and workshops.
The choice of London as host city was deliberate, providing the perfect location for the expo to connect with the diaspora and wider audience.
“It (London) brings together renowned developers, property agencies, financial institutions, interior designers, architects, and lifestyle brands, offering a comprehensive display of residential, commercial, and investment properties,” the organisers said.
Meanwhile, in addition to London, the organisers have this year introduced “the first-ever edition of Accra, Ghana, to our expo”.
“Accra, the capital city of Ghana, is a thriving metropolis with a rapidly growing real estate market,” the explained.
“By introducing Accra as a new location, we aim to provide an immersive experience for visitors, allowing them to explore the local property market, investment opportunities, and the vibrant lifestyle offerings that Ghana has to offer.”
