Dozens of Ghanaians celebrated the country’s 67th independence anniversary in central Birmingham last Saturday at a colourful event that was attended by the country’s high commissioner to the United Kingdom, His Excellency Papa Owusu-Ankomah.
The commemorations, which were supported by Diaspora Insurance, were organised by the Ghana Union of Greater Birmingham in collaboration with the Ghana Union Midlands.
Other high profile guests included the Lord Mayor of Birmingham, Councillor Chaman Lal, Deputy Lord-Lieutenant Major General Timothy Hodgetts, Deputy Sheriff Wade Lyn as well as the President of the Birmingham Commonwealth Association Keith Stones-Smith.
