Lord Mayor Choudhry on Youth Empowerment in Birmingham

Addressing the gathering, Councillor Zaker Choudhry praised Birmingham’s cultural diversity and the critical role young people play in shaping inclusive communities.

“It is a pleasure to be with you today at this Youth Day celebration. I would like to begin by thanking the organisers for inviting me to this important occasion.

Today is a celebration of our young people and the important role they play in shaping our future. They bring energy, fresh ideas, creativity and hope. They remind us that the future is full of possibilities, and it is our responsibility to support, encourage and empower them to reach their full potential.

Here in Birmingham, we are proud to be one of the most diverse cities in the United Kingdom. Our strength lies in the many communities that call this city home, including the South African community, whose members continue to make valuable contributions to the social, cultural and economic life of Birmingham.

Events like this bring people together, celebrate our shared values and recognise the talents and achievements of our young people. They strengthen the bonds between our communities and inspire the next generation to become active and responsible citizens.”
