DIASPORA Insurance was one of the main sponsors of the 2025 edition the Face of Kenya UK pageant which was held in London last Saturday.
Dozens of people, many resplendent in Kenyan traditional outfits, cheered the ambassadorial nominees at the colourful and culturally resonant event.
Agnes Lokoro was crowned the new Face of Kenya UK 2025, besting an “inspiring lineup of ambassadors, each championing inclusion and a change of mindset in our community”.
“Congratulations, Agnes! The journey ahead is both exciting and demanding, but I know that as an able queen — with the support of your fellow ambassadors — you will shine brightly.,” said event organiser Janet Wainaina.
Halima Ahmed, who was MC for the night, commended Diaspora Insurance for supporting the event.
She also paid tribute to the company for consistently supporting community events across the African diaspora.
“This is a company that is integrated in the people, for the people. It’s not just about us signing up for the company’s products, they are also part of what we are doing,” she said.
Meanwhile, the new Face of Kenya UK 2025 says she has always carried with her “a deep love for her culture, community, and heritage”.
Agnes holds a Master’s degree in Agroforestry and Food Security and has, over the years she’s been based in the UK, “developed not only professional skills but also a passion for uplifting the livelihood challenged communities in Africa”.
She is also “actively involved in community and charity services focusing on education mentorship, livelihoods enhancement and girl child hygiene promotion”.
Winning Face of Kenya UK, she explained, provides a “unique opportunity to celebrate Kenyan culture while amplifying voices in the diaspora.
“Through this platform, I hope to inspire young people, promote education, strengthen diaspora ties and support charities.
“My vision is to continue being a cultural ambassador, bridging the gap between Kenya and the diaspora, while championing empowerment of children in the marginalised communities in Kenya.”
