By Diaspora Insurance News
Homabay, Kenya: Christmas Day in Waondo village, Mbita Sub-County, Homabay County, was marked by joy and celebration as Diaspora Insurance, a UK-based global insurance company, donated food supplies and Christmas goodies to hundreds of vulnerable families.
The donation was delivered in partnership with the Kajwang’ Foundation as part of Diaspora Insurance’s #DiasporaGivingBack corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative. The outreach brought together community members, leaders, and partners to celebrate the festive season with dignity and hope.

Supporting Vulnerable Communities in Homabay County
The Christmas outreach took place in Waondo and was attended by beneficiaries from across the local community, alongside leaders and the Foundation’s patron, Senator Moses Otieno Kajwang. Families received essential food items and festive packages, easing the burden of the season for households facing economic hardship.
The initiative highlighted the importance of community support, philanthropy, and diaspora-led development in rural Kenya.
Gratitude From the Kajwang’ Foundation
Speaking during the event, Winnies Odawo, Director of the Kajwang’ Foundation, thanked Diaspora Insurance for its timely support.
“The assistance from Diaspora Insurance in ensuring everyone in Homabay could celebrate the festive season has brought hope to the community, truly reflecting the spirit of Christmas.”
Her remarks underscored the Foundation’s commitment to partnering with organisations that prioritise sustainable community impact.

Beneficiaries Share Their Stories
For many families, the donations meant the difference between going without and celebrating Christmas with dignity.
Dina Anyango, one of the beneficiaries, expressed her appreciation:
“What I have received today will help my family and children celebrate Christmas.”
Another recipient, Monica Akinyi, added:
“Today is Christmas Day, and I just want to thank Diaspora Insurance for this blessing.”
These stories reflect the real-life impact of corporate social responsibility initiatives in Kenya.

Diaspora Insurance’s Commitment to Giving Back
Since launching its first charity initiative in 2021, Diaspora Insurance has supported dozens of non-profits, orphanages, and elderly care homes across rural and urban areas in the 25 African countries it serves.
Jeff Madzingo, Chief Executive Officer of Diaspora Insurance, reaffirmed the company’s values:
“We were raised by our communities, and they gave us the foundation to become global citizens. Giving back is our way of showing gratitude to the communities that gave us the wings to fly.”
He noted that the Kajwang’ Foundation is one of ten beneficiaries of the company’s annual charity programme and revealed plans to expand future initiatives.
Investing in Education and Long-Term Impact
Looking ahead, Diaspora Insurance plans to broaden its CSR focus to include education endowment programmes and scholarships, supporting long-term community empowerment.
