In December, Diaspora Insurance brought festive cheer to vulnerable communities in Harare, Zimbabwe, through its annual Giving Back Initiative, providing hope and much-needed support during the holiday season.

Diaspora Insurance, a UK-based company operating in 25 African countries, runs the Giving Back Initiative to support vulnerable communities across Africa. In its most recent end-of-year outreach, 11 charities benefited, with beneficiary countries selected through a live draw from over 500 nominations submitted worldwide.

Zimbabwe was chosen as one of the beneficiaries, with support delivered through initiatives such as the Food Pantry Drive in Harare and the Gwanda Home for the Aged in Gwanda.

In Harare, Diaspora Insurance partnered with the Food Pantry Drive, led by Pastor Milton Zengeni and Chaplain D. Katsvara. The support included groceries for Christmas celebrations, food supplies for 13 orphans, and 20 food hampers distributed to elderly members of the community. The initiative came at a critical time when many families struggle to access basic necessities.

Speaking about the impact of the donation, Pastor Milton Zengeni said:

“We, the Food Pantry Drive team, want to extend our heartfelt gratitude for partnering with us and supporting our initiative. Your generous donation of £1,000 has made a significant impact in the lives of widows and orphans in our community. The funds were used to buy groceries and host a Christmas party, bringing joy and hope to those in need. We are grateful that you chose us as recipients of your kindness. May God bless you abundantly.”

He added that partnerships like this allow organisations to reach more families and provide timely support, expressing hope for a long-lasting collaboration with Diaspora Insurance.

“We are deeply thankful to Diaspora Insurance for this generous gesture. The groceries and food hampers will go a long way in supporting families, the orphanage, and elderly members of our community during the Christmas period. This was an answered prayer for us, and we are grateful for what God has done.”

Speaking on the Giving Back Initiative, Jeff Madzingo of Diaspora Insurance highlighted the company’s commitment to supporting communities:
