A Christmas to Remember: Light Angels Children’s Developmental Centre Brings Joy to 182 Vulnerable Children in Uganda
By Diaspora Insurance News
The sun rose gently over Iganga, the rural areas of northern Uganda, casting golden light over dusty roads and small villages. For many children in these communities, life can be a daily struggle a struggle for food, education, and the simple joys many of us take for granted.
But in the just ended Christmas season, hope and laughter filled the air.

Light Angels Children’s Developmental Centre, founded by Joshua Hosea Mukuse, in partnership with Bamakayika Ministries, hosted a festive celebration that would leave a lasting mark on the hearts of the children it serves. Joseph recalls the humble beginnings of the Centre:
“I started with just seven children, but over time the need grew, and today we are overwhelmed with over 150 children relying on us. It has been challenging, but every child here is worth it.”
This year, the Centre was proud to be one of the 11 beneficiaries of the Diaspora Insurance Christmas Giving Back Initiative, a program designed to spread festive joy and support vulnerable communities across Uganda. Joseph added his heartfelt thanks:
“We are extremely grateful to Diaspora Insurance for their support. Their partnership allows us to reach more children, provide meals, and give them hope for a better future.”

Over 182 children gathered for the celebration, their eyes bright with anticipation. The atmosphere buzzed with excitement, decorated halls, and the faint aroma of delicious meals prepared with love. The children weren’t just receiving support; they were part of a celebration crafted just for them.
As the event began, the children took centre stage, performing choreographed music and dances, their faces lit up with joy and pride. The rhythmic songs echoed through the community, drawing smiles from parents, volunteers, and guests alike. It wasn’t just entertainment, it was an expression of resilience, hope, and the vibrant spirit of these young hearts.
After the performances, plates filled with nourishing meals were served. For many of these children, this might have been their only Christmas feast of the season. The feeding program, a cornerstone of Light Angels Children’s Developmental mission, ensures that vulnerable children are not only fed but also nurtured with dignity and care.

Beyond the festive celebration, Light Angels Children’s Developmental Centre and Bamakayika Ministries continue to support children through basic education programs, providing learning materials, school enrollment support, and a safe environment where every child can explore their curiosity and grow with confidence. Feeding the children is just the first step, equipping them with education ensures they have the tools for a brighter future.
By the time the celebration came to an end, the children were tired but beaming. Their laughter, songs, and shared meals had turned a simple Christmas celebration into a powerful reminder: that every child deserves joy, care, and the chance to learn.
Through partnerships, programs, and dedicated staff, Light Angels Children’s Developmental Centre continues to light the path of hope for Uganda’s most vulnerable children. With the support of Diaspora Insurance, Bamakayika Ministries, and the wider community, the Centre is not just providing meals or books and creating a future full of possibilities.
This Christmas in Iganga and the rural northern districts, 182 children left with full stomachs, brighter smiles, and a renewed sense of hope , a memory that will carry them through the year and beyond.
